InfoTronics Business Systems (IBS) is a Ugandan software development company with over 25 years of experience delivering technology solutions for governments, NGOs, and enterprises across East Africa.

Founded and incorporated in 1998, IBS specialises in custom software development, Management Information Systems, Monitoring & Evaluation platforms, mobile applications, and data analytics. We work with clients from the initial consultation all the way through to deployment, staff training, and long-term technical support.

Our track record with organisations like USAID, the East African Community, the Uganda National Examinations Board, and the Ministry of Gender speaks to our ability to deliver complex, high-stakes systems that work reliably in the field.

25 years of building technology that matters

1998

IBS is founded

InfoTronics Business Systems is registered and incorporated in Kampala, Uganda, with a focus on custom software for enterprises.

Early 2000s

First major government contracts

IBS builds its first Management Information Systems for government ministries and development programmes across Uganda.

2008–2014

M&E & USAID partnerships

Delivery of major USAID-funded M&E database systems including STAR-EC HIV/AIDS tracking and the USAID Better Outcome MIS across Eastern Uganda.

2015–2018

East African expansion

IBS scales beyond Uganda, delivering systems for the East African Community Secretariat, COMESA, and the Tanzania construction industry databank.

2019–2022

Mobile & web innovation

Launch of the UNEB mobile app, EAC Non-Tariff Barrier app, and the Electronic Work Permit system for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda.

2024–Present

AI adoption & next generation

IBS launches its AI Adoption Training programme, helping organisations across Uganda and East Africa build AI-ready teams and workflows.

A seasoned ICT professional holding a PhD in Computer Science, a distinction Master's in Computer Science, and a range of certifications in M&E, Network Administration, ISMS, and Professional IT Law. Dr Wakabi brings over 25 years of technology leadership to every IBS engagement.
